Cosy Elegance in the Suburbs: Afternoon Tea at The Point Astley
Tucked away in the leafy village of Astley, Greater Manchester, The Point Astley offers a charming and stylish escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Known for its welcoming atmosphere, contemporary interiors, and attention to detail, this independent venue has quickly become a local favourite for brunch, cocktails, and Afternoon Tea alike. Whether you’re celebrating a special moment or simply indulging in a midweek treat, Afternoon Tea at The Point is an experience filled with comfort, creativity, and Northern warmth.
A Contemporary Take on Afternoon Tea
Served in the venue’s beautifully styled dining area, Afternoon Tea at The Point blends tradition with a modern edge. The setting is light, relaxed, and tastefully decorated—ideal for long conversations over tea, laughter with friends, or a peaceful moment to yourself.
The menu is as inviting as the setting. Guests are treated to a three-tiered selection of savoury bites, scones, and sweets, all freshly made with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. The savoury tier includes an assortment of gourmet sandwiches and wraps, which may feature fillings such as roast ham and mustard, chicken Caesar, tuna mayonnaise, and cheddar with red onion chutney. Everything is presented with care and made to be both satisfying and elegant.
The middle tier is reserved for scones, freshly baked and served warm with generous helpings of clotted cream and fruit preserve. It’s a classic element that provides comfort and familiarity, executed to perfection.
The top tier showcases an array of miniature sweet treats, which might include rich chocolate brownies, lemon drizzle squares, shortbread, cupcakes, and seasonal bakes. Each sweet is made in-house and reflects the venue’s passion for flavour and presentation, adding a cheerful, indulgent finish to the experience.
Prosecco and Cocktails for Extra Sparkle
The standard Afternoon Tea includes a choice of teas or coffees, with a variety of classic and herbal blends on offer. But for those wanting to toast the occasion, there’s the option to upgrade to a Prosecco Afternoon Tea or choose from The Point’s excellent cocktail menu.
Their cocktails are a popular feature, made with flair and served with style, making Afternoon Tea here feel like a real occasion, perfect for birthdays, baby showers, hen dos, or a special weekend treat.
A Warm and Welcoming Space
What sets The Point apart is its ability to feel both stylish and homely. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, and the space welcomes all, families, friends, couples, and solo diners alike. The team are also happy to cater to vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dietary needs with advance notice, making the venue inclusive and accessible.
Children are welcome, and while there’s no dedicated kids’ Afternoon Tea, younger guests often enjoy the mini treats and relaxed surroundings just as much as the adults.
Booking and Availability
Afternoon Tea at The Point is available on selected days and must be pre-booked in advance, especially for weekend visits. Bookings can be made via their website or by phone.
For a local twist on a much-loved tradition, The Point Astley offers a fresh, inviting take on Afternoon Tea, served with warmth, generosity, and a touch of indulgence.
Reviews

Took mum for afternoon tea for her Mother's Day treat. We thoroughly enjoyed the food (savoury afternoon tea), which was plentiful and a good selection of sandwich fillings, followed by delicious, very light scones with jam and cream. Highly recommended.

Came for afternoon tea today which was all delicious. I've done Townhouse, Princess Str, another fancy one on John Dolton Str in town and this was by far the best. The female owner/manager was really friendly and the staff were really attentive.

I can not thank Diane and her team for the amazing job and fantastic food for my daughters suprise baby shower. Everything was just perfect, being able to dress the bar area having it as a private venue also with a live singer. We could not if wished for anything more.
