Northern Soul Meets Afternoon Elegance: Afternoon Tea at Mamucium Manchester
Located within the stylish surrounds of Hotel Indigo at Victoria Station, Mamucium Restaurant brings a warm Northern twist to the tradition of Afternoon Tea. Named after the ancient Roman fort that once stood where Manchester now thrives, Mamucium blends heritage and modern flair, and its Afternoon Tea offering is no exception. It’s a relaxed yet refined experience that celebrates local flavours, artisanal craftsmanship, and seasonal ingredients, all with a warm Mancunian welcome.
Whether you’re after a peaceful escape in the heart of the city or planning a special afternoon out, Mamucium’s Afternoon Tea is a charming way to indulge.
The Mamucium Afternoon Tea Experience
Served daily between 12pm and 4pm, Afternoon Tea at Mamucium offers a beautifully presented selection of classic treats with Northern flair. The venue focuses on sourcing locally and seasonally, which is evident in the fresh, vibrant ingredients and well-balanced flavours.
The experience begins with a selection of savoury bites, including traditional finger sandwiches filled with smoked salmon and cream cheese, egg mayonnaise with cress, ham and tomato chutney, and cheddar cheese with red onion. Mamucium’s chefs elevate these familiar flavours with house-baked breads and careful preparation.
The savouries are followed by freshly baked scones, plain and fruit, served warm with clotted cream and homemade strawberry preserve. A must-have centrepiece of any proper Afternoon Tea.
The sweet tier showcases a rotating array of miniature desserts and pastries, such as chocolate brownies, lemon drizzle cake, fruit tarts, and eclairs. These sweet delights are made in-house, combining classic techniques with bold, comforting flavours that reflect the region’s culinary roots.
Teas, Bubbles & Bespoke Touches
The Afternoon Tea includes your choice from Mamucium’s selection of loose-leaf teas, featuring familiar favourites like English Breakfast and Earl Grey, alongside soothing herbal blends such as peppermint and chamomile.
For those looking to raise a toast, Mamucium offers Prosecco and Champagne Afternoon Tea upgrades, perfect for marking a birthday, baby shower, anniversary, or simply adding a bit of sparkle to your day.
A Welcoming Setting for All Occasions
Mamucium’s elegant yet comfortable dining space features plush seating, soft lighting, and modern design elements, making it a versatile venue suitable for both intimate catch-ups and larger group gatherings. Located right next to Manchester Victoria Station, it’s also an ideal choice for travellers or city-centre explorers wanting a mid-afternoon treat.
The venue is very inclusive and family-friendly, with a laid-back yet polished vibe. While there isn’t a dedicated children’s Afternoon Tea menu, the classic sweets and savouries are well-suited to younger guests. The team can also accommodate dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options with advance notice.
Booking & Availability
Afternoon Tea is available by pre-booking only, which can be done online or by contacting the restaurant directly. Given the venue’s popularity with both locals and hotel guests, it’s best to book early, especially for weekends or special occasions.
Mamucium’s Afternoon Tea is a lovely blend of Northern hospitality and timeless indulgence, offering an inviting and unpretentious setting to enjoy one of Britain’s best-loved rituals.
Reviews

I was intrigue from my daily commute to see a lot of people dining for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. And has read highly recommended reviews from food critics. True enough, me and my family were not let down with our first experience celebrating a special occasion.

The food was top notch, naturally, and the atmosphere created by the guitarist playing and singing along in the background makes things very relaxed. Which is perpetuated by the pace of eating. Service is prompt but never feels rushed.

A fantastic experience from start to finish. A team with so much warmth and passion, a big shout out to Iryna and Marsi for the brilliant service and to Adrian for being so welcoming. The portions of the food were huge and every dish was absolutely delicious.

Very nice place for food and seating. Booked a table for 3 with the little one. Very accommodating and service was excellent. My son loved the pasta. We had the fish and chips which was amazing. Not over priced considering the location. I would highly recommend this place

Nipped in for lunch and drinks and very impressed. The food was lovely with generous portions together with a decent wine list. Staff were really friendly and attractive and highly professional. For a mid city venue the prices were quite reasonable. Highly recommend a visit!
