Colonial Opulence: High Tea at Grand Pacific Manchester
Tucked away in the historic Grade II listed Manchester Reform Club on Spring Gardens, Grand Pacific offers a luxurious and refined twist on the traditional Afternoon Tea. Known for its exotic interiors and old-world charm, the restaurant exudes colonial splendour with dark wood panelled walls, rattan furnishings, and golden accents that transport guests to a bygone era of grand travel and indulgence. Their High Tea experience is a centrepiece offering one that blends British tradition with Far Eastern inspiration.
Whether you’re looking to unwind in opulent surroundings or planning a refined celebration, High Tea at Grand Pacific offers a balance of elegance, escapism, and culinary creativity.
The Signature High Tea Experience
At Grand Pacific, Afternoon Tea is elevated into High Tea, served daily from 12pm to 4:30pm. The experience is far from ordinary. Guests are presented with a striking three-tiered selection that features an intriguing combination of British classics and pan-Asian influences, a theme that runs through much of the restaurant’s wider menu.
The savoury selection includes delicacies such as smoked salmon and crème fraîche on charcoal bread, rare roast beef and horseradish, and cucumber and cream cheese. Executed with finesse and presented with flair. The addition of savoury bites like duck spring rolls and Asian-style buns adds a welcome fusion element, giving the traditional sandwich tier a distinctly Grand Pacific twist.
Next, you’ll be treated to warm fruit scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, an unmissable staple of any respectable Afternoon Tea. The sweet tier includes a rotating selection of mini desserts, such as chocolate delice, fruit tartlets, and other patisserie creations, all exquisitely made and plated to perfection.
Prosecco, Champagne & Exotic Teas
To complement the menu, Grand Pacific offers a range of fine loose-leaf teas, including Earl Grey, Assam, and Green Tea, as well as more adventurous options such as Lemongrass & Ginger or Fruit Punch. For those looking to make the occasion sparkle, Prosecco and Champagne High Tea upgrades are available, with Moët & Chandon Impérial being the house favourite.
Cocktail lovers aren’t left out either. The venue’s bar team can mix a signature drink to pair with your experience, from classic Bellinis to more exotic concoctions, echoing the global influences seen throughout the venue.
Perfect for Elegant Celebrations
The High Tea experience at Grand Pacific is ideal for couples, friends, special celebrations, and those who simply want to enjoy a decadent afternoon in luxurious surroundings. The setting leans towards a more adult and sophisticated vibe, perfect for birthdays, baby showers, and bridal parties.
With prior notice, the restaurant can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free guests, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive experience.

Reviews

This is the best afternoon tea in Manchester. I've tried them all, sure there are some nice things here and there but this is the best all rounder. A lovely atmosphere, excellent presentation which adds to the experience and well thought out flavours to the food items.

First and foremost an afternoon tea experience wouldn’t (pardon the upcoming pun) be my cup of tea however after visiting on Saturday 17th November I was blown away by this venue and it’s food & drink Would recommend to anyone, very nice and relaxing

Lovely place . My friend had her birthday afternoon tea here. The prosecco lunch was lovely. The atmosphere was the best part with a live musicians in the corner. Just lovely . Would 100% recommend & definately be back .

My favourite bar in Manchester. The afternoon tea is the best we have had (& we have had quite a lot in and around Manchester). The cocktails are also amazing, just a shame they don't do happy hours. Lovely building, atmosphere and decor.

Very classy venue for a meal in a beautiful setting. Great selection of drinks, including cocktails and wine. Food is good ranging from afternoon tea to bar snacks and restaurant dining. Really helpful and friendly staff - not the cheapest venue but good quality and high standards.
